"San Francisco run February 20, 2010"
Today was a 12 mile (11.5 to be precise) jog from Crissy Field in San Francisco to the Rodeo Beach trail head in Sausalito. I wore 4 shirts today. Two short sleeve shirts
and two long sleeve shirts. I was still cold. We have been doing nothing but flat runs this winter until today. What a difference a day makes. At the turn around
Michael checked his snazzy watch and found our elevation to be 1200 feet. The hills were hard and the switch back section was brutal. We were pretty happy when we made it
to the turn around. We caught up with a lady who was 21 miles into a hilly trail marathon. She was really strong but she almost got blown off the trail when a strong
just of wind hit her. It was a mixture of fatigue and her small size that almost sent her over the edge of the hill. I offered to run with her for the really windy
section but she was to shy to accept assistance so we parted ways up in the hills.
The return run was very easy while we were up in the hills but I knew the fatigue was going to hit us when we got close to the end. We had to go down some stairs with
about 1.5 miles to go and I just bounced down the hills because I was almost finished. When I got back to the car, it was really nice to be able to put on some
dry clothes and relax. It took about two minutes for my legs to tighten up from the run. I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, banana and protien shake and recovered
pretty quickly. It was a great day for a run. Enjoy the pictures.
