"Sausalito hill run February 27, 2010"
Today we went out for another hill run in Marin County. Last week the hills beat us up pretty good so we went back for some redemption. I should be old enough to know
not to attempt to redeem myself against inanimate objects. We started out in Alameda with beautiful weather that stayed with us for the commute to Crissy Field that was
packed with people for the annual polar bear swim. I swim in the bay all of the time so it seems odd to me to see this huge event for swimming in the bay. I usually swim
alone. In any event, the crowds forced us to park in the Sports Basement parking lot a half mile down the street. That just gave us an extra mile in the hills that we managed
to lose by getting lost.
We started out running along the bay that was in an extreme high tide that was washing over the trail in places. We went up the first hill through a tunnel then stopped
for a stretch. After the stretch, we rolled up a small hill then across the bridge where it was raining all the way across. The rain stopped by the time we got to the hills
which was good for me because I like to be warm. We attacked the hills much harder this week than last week and we paid dearly for it by the time we finished. We also paid
for not drinking enough because of the cool temperature and rain. When got to the bottom of the final set of stairs at sea level, there were people lined up along the bay
to get a picture of the tsunami coming up from Chile. It is good thing we did not get the wave because the photographers would have been the first to go. I was
too tired to break out my camera to take a photo of the photographers. As I was chastising myself for not taking their picture, I rounded a corner into a wedding photo
shoot. I still did not have my camera out and I missed that too! It was still a great day for a run.
